A Prayer for Summer

The prayer ritual for August invites us to hear the call to leisure and to recognize the holiness of rest. As the prayer leads us to reflection, consider exploring these resources:

  • The book The Artist's Rule: Nurturing Your Creative Soul with Monastic Wisdom by Christine Valters Paintner, a 12-week journey described as a "plunge into the riches of a contemplative, creative life"
  • The video Radiant Intimacy of the Heart, in which Cynthia Bourgeau talks on the Christian contemplative tradition
  • "Pray as You Go," a free app produced by the Jesuits in Britain offering daily prayer reflections.

Past prayer services and resources can be found on the Spiritual Life page of the Sisters of Mercy, Mid-Atlantic website.

Prepare for Mercy Day through Prayer

image of Make Mercy Real logo

Join your voices together in prayer during this Jubilee Year of Mercy using Praying in Preparation for the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy. As Catherine's daughters, whose mission is "Engaging the World in Mercy," we are conscious of how our Critical Concerns impact our lives and those we accompany in ministry. In solidarity with them and with each other, let us be united in this common prayer in the days leading up to the Feast of our Lady of Mercy, from the 16th to the 24th of September 2016. As a personal approach to this prayer, on each of these days, you will receive a phone call at approximately 7 p.m. with a different voice, praying the prayer aloud.  If you are not a sister and would like to receive these prayer calls, please send your name and phone number to clombardi@mercymidatlantic.org. If you need a printed copy of this, please contact Sister Kathleen Lyons at klyons@mercymidatlantic.org.
