Mid-Atlantic Community Examen

May I live gratefully and simply today.

At the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Community Assembly in April 2016, the Mid-Atlantic Community affirmed "to make a communal commitment to do an examination of conscience on a regular basis regarding our participation in consumerism and the 'stuff' we have." The result has been an examen practice on consumerism using four quarterly themes which was introduced to the community in October 2016. Each theme provides a description and reflection questions. All are encouraged to use the examen at least twice a month personally at a time of your choosing, and to also use it at least once a month communally. You may choose to begin with the recitation of the mantra, "May I live gratefully and simply today."

Below are the examen themes to date, as well as accompanying (optional) resources to provide an educational component for each theme. Also provided are printable visuals for the mantra, the examen timeline, and a fourfold version of the examen themes containing the first cycle of the themes from October 2016 to September 2017 and the second cycle of the themes from October 2017 to September 2018.
