The Sisters of Mercy sponsor four colleges in the Mid-Atlantic Community: Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ, Misericordia University in Dallas, PA, Gwynedd-Mercy College in Gwynedd Valley, PA, and Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA. Over 8,700 undergraduate and graduate students attend these fine academic institutions and learn the spirit, history, and heritage of the Sisters of Mercy.

Each Mercy college has a service learning/community service component developed to support the mercy mission and tradition of service learning and compassionate mercy. Some initiatives currently are linked with the works of Sisters of Mercy both in the United States and elsewhere and others are offered in collaboration with other charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and AmeriCorps.

Though many colleges and universities have service learning in their curriculum, Catholic Social Teaching and the tradition of mercy characterize these programs. Therefore, strong preparation and theological reflection are essential components of service learning on a Mercy campus.
